Job Overview:

This role offers a unique opportunity to support families during difficult times by facilitating the transfer of deceased persons from various locations to mortuary facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a caring and compassionate nature, as well as strong communication skills to effectively interact with health fields, police, coronial staff, and family members of the deceased.

Some locations may have stairs or impeded access - lifting aids and specialized equipment are provided, but a manual lift of the deceased is sometimes necessary with a team member's assistance.

A valid drivers license, own transport, and phone are essential requirements for this role. Close proximity to our offices is preferred, but not mandatory.

We strive to work with our staff, offering flexible rostering options to accommodate family and other commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Transfer of deceased persons from place of passing to mortuary facilities
  2. Locations include hospitals, private homes, aged care facilities, and other public locations
  3. Communication with health fields, police, and coronial staff to facilitate transfers
  4. Effective and compassionate interaction with family members of the deceased
  5. Manual handling of the deceased, including placing them onto transfer stretchers and transporting them in a van
  6. Lifting aids and specialized equipment are provided when necessary
  7. Scenes that are transferred from may be confronting due to the nature of the death

Requirements:

  • A valid drivers license
  • Own transport
  • Phone
  • Caring and compassionate nature
  • Ability to work on a roster that includes night, weekend, and public holiday work
  • Level of strength and fitness to handle deceased
  • Closeness to our offices is preferred, but not mandatory
