Position Overview

Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse/Midwife to contribute to our esteemed Women's Unit. We welcome applications for full-time, part-time, or casual roles.

This role focuses on delivering family-centered midwifery care in partnership with other healthcare professionals and significant others, ensuring safe and effective patient management.

Our facility is a modern establishment with 105 beds, featuring five operating theatres and a comprehensive day surgery unit, along with a variety of specialized clinical services. As one of the five private Mater Mothers' Hospitals in Australia, we provide a well-rounded maternity service within a dedicated unit.

Compensation: $51.74 (RN/RM1) per hour plus superannuation (with additional casual loading if applicable) and access to generous salary packaging

Key Responsibilities

Your expertise will play a vital role in delivering exceptional nursing and midwifery care, enhancing patient experiences and outcomes.

Specifically, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care by utilizing nursing and midwifery clinical skills to support optimal care outcomes through effective care coordination and communication.
  • Collaborate with patients and their support networks throughout the pregnancy and birth journey, ensuring care is tailored to individual and cultural needs.
  • Conduct thorough ante and postnatal assessments, developing or updating care plans that address the patient's physical, psychological, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal health during hospitalization, ensuring effective communication with other healthcare professionals to maintain high standards of care.
  • Implement comprehensive discharge planning to equip patients and their support persons with necessary education, resources, and access to community services.
  • Recognize and enhance the effectiveness of the multidisciplinary team by appropriately delegating tasks to team members based on their professional expertise.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you will possess the following qualifications:

  • Current dual registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Midwife and Registered Nurse.
  • Up-to-date neonatal resuscitation certification.
  • Current K2 Perinatal Training from an approved provider.
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications in relevant nursing and midwifery specialties are preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of postgraduate experience, including in birth suites.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and clinical problem-solving abilities.
  • A demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and best practice principles.
