About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join the 9-bed specialist Palliative Care Ward on a permanent, part-time basis.
The nursing team provides the highest level of specialist care to patients, their families, carers, and visitors.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Managing all aspects of palliative care from symptom and pain management to end of life care.
- Utilising a structured approach to carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients.
- Completing PCOC assessments.
- Implementing planned evidence-based nursing interventions.
- Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care.
- Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision.
- Maintaining and adhering to Infection Control policies and practices.
- Complying with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions, and guidelines.
About you
You will be driven by a challenging yet rewarding environment where you can bring your energy and experience to this dynamic ward.
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions).
- Recent nursing experience including extensive experience within a medical ward setting.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and clinical problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles.
- Experience with using CADD pumps & Syringe Drivers is desirable.
- An openness to undergoing palliative care training if needed.
