Job Title: Medical Laboratory Assistant - Pathology Collector/Phlebotomist

Join our team as a medical laboratory assistant pathology collector/phlebotomist. You will be working in various locations across the country, providing high-quality patient care and ensuring accurate specimen collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to customer-focused pathology collection services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Provide high-quality healthcare services to all referrers and consumers.
  • Perform venepuncture and other duties related to specimen collection, data entry, sample processing, and delivery into sites for pathology investigations.
Requirements
  • Certificate III in Pathology Collections and/or previous experience in venepuncture or demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the department.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and skills, including effective communication with patients, carers, and clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve general issues within the clinical environment, including specimen preparation and transport to ensure viability of specimens.
  • Familiarity with pathology terminology and requirements; willingness to learn a broad scope of collection, data entry, and specimen preparation practices, including pediatric and neonate blood collections.
  • Unencumbered Class C Driver's License (valid in NSW) or capacity to travel to any site for a shift as required.
  • Willingness to participate in shift work, including weekends and travel to any site within the operational area as requested.
  • Ability to manage a demanding professional team environment with competing priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
