This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the healthcare of the community by working as a Medical Laboratory Assistant.
About the Role- Contribute to a customer-focused pathology collection service across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide a high-quality healthcare service to all referrers and consumers.
The successful applicant will be responsible for performing venepuncture and other duties pertaining to specimen collection, data entry, sample processing, and delivery into sites for pathology investigations.
Key Requirements- Certificate III in Pathology Collections and/or previous experience in venepuncture or demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the clinical environment relevant to the Department.
- Proven customer service experience and skills, including effective communication with patients, carers, and clinical staff in a demanding professional team environment.
- Problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with ability to resolve general issues within the clinical environment including specimen preparation and transport ensuring viability of the specimens.
- Familiarity with pathology terminology and requirements and willingness to learn a broad scope of collection, data entry and specimen preparation practices including paediatric and neonate blood collections.
- Unencumbered Class C Driver's License (valid in NSW) or capacity to travel to any site for a shift as required.
- Willingness to participate in shift work including weekends and travel to any site within the operational area as requested.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Proficient computer skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
