The Department of Communities and Justice is a government agency delivering justice services to New South Wales.
Our mission is to enhance disaster response and ensure faster recovery. We aim to reduce disaster severity and impacts by completing critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses, and governments.
We will initiate swift recovery and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities, and stakeholders when disasters strike.
About the Role:
The Relocation Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of the Resilient Lands Program relocation service. This involves providing expert advice and support throughout the relocation process to help flood-affected community members effectively relocate to safe lands.
The successful candidate will:
- Support the customer relocation journey and decision-making process for eligible community members
- Collaborate with the Resilient Lands Program team and external service providers
- Provide advice and make appropriate referrals to assist clients with complex support and housing needs
- Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions
- Support reporting and data analysis to inform policy and program improvements
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need to be able to:
- Deal with a diverse cohort of customers with varying levels of vulnerability
- Work across a broad range of policies and processes associated with relocation
- Achieve buy-in and support of multiple stakeholders, balancing competing needs, interests, and demands in a high-pressure and high-volume work environment
