Job Overview

This role offers hands-on experience, nationally recognised training, and clear progression within the corrections sector. As a Community Corrections Officer, you will contribute to better outcomes for diverse communities, with emphasis on Aboriginal and CALD communities.

You will supervise individuals under conditions, develop and implement rehabilitative strategies, monitor progress toward goals, and conduct home visits to ensure compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system, case management skills, and understanding of the needs of Aboriginal people and their communities.
  • Commitment to strengthening relationships between community corrections and local service providers and the Aboriginal community to improve service delivery and outcomes.
  • Strong values and behaviours with a focus on community safety.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships between communities and justice, with emphasis on Aboriginal and CALD communities.
  • Excellent communication skills, confidentiality, and integrity.
  • Experience in case management, resilience, integrity, and a proactive, positive attitude.
  • Ability to work from an office and engage with people under supervision face-to-face.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work in challenging environments.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective strategies while managing emotionally charged situations and complex issues.
