Medical Technician Role

This position is available to support a joint Department of Defense program in Alice Springs, Australia.

The successful candidate will represent International SOS Government Medical Services and provide various services, including performing diagnostic tests and operating medical equipment.

The technician will collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare professionals to assist in diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first aid, emergency medical services, health examinations, and nursing services to employees.
  • Coordinate with injury management, workers' compensation, and external compensation providers.
  • Educate employees on health, illness prevention, and wellness.
  • Maintain records of incidents, health history, and injuries, including preparing accident reports and statistical data.
  • Manage inventory of EMS equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Assist with drug and alcohol testing at the worksite.
  • Oversee health-related issues such as water quality, food safety, and living area safety.
  • Follow established procedures to perform duties.
  • Provide healthcare at designated locations.
  • Exercise judgment within established procedures and regulations in selecting treatment methods.
  • Apply techniques relevant to the medical field to support Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards.
  • Deliver technical proficiency with a compassionate approach in patient interactions, supporting healthcare providers.
  • Maintain strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Work effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Handle sensitive information confidentially and professionally.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • A strong foundation in laboratory procedures, patient care, and diagnostic testing for accurate and timely results.
  • Detail-oriented with proficiency in medical equipment and adherence to high standards in sample collection, analysis, and reporting.

Required Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Medical Technician.
  • Proven experience with medical equipment and tools.

Physical Demands:

  • A typical interior/office environment.
  • Prolonged sitting and standing.
  • May involve bending, stooping, and lifting up to 15 lbs.

Other Qualifications:

  • Australian citizenship or ability to relocate to Australia.
  • A valid passport required prior to relocation and must be maintained during stay.
