We're a leading infrastructure company that transforms lives with everything we do. Our purpose is simple: we deliver complex projects that make a real difference to people's lives.
At John Holland, we pride ourselves on having a diverse and inclusive workplace, where different perspectives and ideas drive our long-term success.
We're committed to being an employer of choice, offering rich career experiences and ongoing development to our people.
About the Role:
We're seeking a Mechanical Area Manager to join our Infrastructure division, working on a $530m Water Infrastructure project in regional NSW. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality results and ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply contemporary practices in construction methodology to complete assigned works in compliance with client expectations, company objectives, and contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement construction planning, programming, and completion schedules.
- Monitor progress, ensuring that work quality and techniques are of a high standard and report regularly on project performance and cost against company objectives.
- Develop work packages, obtain market pricing, and prepare tender recommendations for engagement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage subcontractor work to achieve outcomes.
- Stakeholder management: Ensure that stakeholders are actively engaged and that beneficial relationships between the project and the client, subcontractors, community, and other external parties are developed and maintained.
- People management: Establish and develop a high-performing team to ensure the project has the capability to achieve targets.
- Financial management: Ensure strong contract, commercial, and financial risk management, accurate forecasting of both costs and revenue, take corrective action in line with JH's authority and reporting frameworks, and maximise the profit margin for the project.
Requirements:
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering, or similar.
- Previous experience within a Tier One contractor for a minimum of 2 years.
- Previous experience in the delivery of D&C water infrastructure projects and managing mechanical installation contractors is preferred.
- Experience in delivery of infrastructure projects, with exposure to Subcontract Management, Project Delivery, Commissioning, Environmental & Controls, and Schedule Management.
- A passion for teamwork and delivering on tight deadlines.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- An understanding of HSEQ management systems, compliance, and reporting procedures.
What's in it for you:
We're about connecting your sense of purpose to ours. We understand that your career is one of the biggest ways to have an impact on the world. We also believe in supporting you as a whole person, not just an employee.
We reward and support our people in so many ways. This starts with being flexible about how different people like to work. From industry-leading leave policies to wellbeing and relationship support, your needs sit at the heart of our employee benefits.
We offer:
- Competitive remuneration with salary continuance and salary sacrifice packaging options available.
- Great leave benefits, including 18 weeks paid parental leave with superannuation and up to an extra 18 weeks of superannuation paid on further periods of unpaid parental leave, multicultural leave exchange, and two additional John Holland Days to prioritise health and wellbeing.
- Career progression underpinned by our exciting pipeline of work means you'll have the opportunity to work on iconic projects that are shaping cities and communities.
- Inclusion and diversity is part of how we work and do what we do at John Holland. Our active commitment to being an employer of choice is evident in the delivery of our Gender Equality Strategic Plan supported by our Pride, Celebrate Women, RAP, and Grow networks.
- Flexible working that works for you as we know flexibility means different things to different people. Whether it's flexi-hours, flexi-parenting, flexi-leave, flexi-shifts, flexi-work, we're committed to helping our people work flexibly.
