Animal Biosecurity Specialist

The role of the Animal Biosecurity Specialist is to contribute to preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases in Queensland.

As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for protecting and enhancing animal biosecurity and welfare standards. You will work closely with other teams to ensure compliance with legislation and support efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to markets.

This position involves monitoring and regulating the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring they are used safely and effectively. You will also contribute to upholding high animal welfare standards and supporting the development of effective biosecurity strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing and implementing effective biosecurity strategies to protect Queensland's agriculture and environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to monitor and regulate the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures to enhance animal biosecurity and welfare standards.

Requirements:
