About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Hearing Support Worker to join our Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) team in Artarmon. The successful candidate will assist clients in navigating the court process for Apprehended Domestic Violence Order and/or domestic and family violence related criminal charge matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact clients, assess risk, and develop safety plans for court attendance.
  • Explain the court process and accompany clients to hearings.
  • Liaise with Police and court staff to ensure clients receive adequate support.
  • Arrange transportation and childcare assistance for clients to attend hearings.
  • Liaise with the SAM Coordinator regarding clients at 'serious threat'.
  • Provide relevant information and referrals to support clients' ongoing needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including Police, Local Courts, legal representatives, and referral agencies.
  • Complete any required reporting.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Social Work, Policing, or Law, with demonstrated experience in the Domestic Violence field.
  • Understanding of the criminal justice response to domestic and family violence, including ADVOs and criminal prosecutions.
  • Knowledge of related legal matters, such as family law, care and protection, migration, and victim's compensation issues.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics, complexities, and legal and social welfare consequences of domestic and family violence.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution.
  • Current NSW Driver's License and access to an insured vehicle.
