We are seeking an experienced Animal Attendant to join our team at Sydney Veterinary Emergency & Specialists. As part of our dedicated hospital staff, you will be responsible for providing basic animal care, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting general hospital operations.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a genuine passion for animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animal Care:
    • Feed, water, and monitor patients' well-being.
    • Prepare cages for incoming patients and assist with grooming and bathing as needed.
    • Provide restraint for animals during procedures under veterinary supervision.
    • Transfer animals between hospital areas ensuring their comfort and safety.
    • Observe patient behavior and report concerns to the veterinary team.
  • Hospital Cleanliness and Maintenance:
    • Clean and disinfect animal wards, cages, and common areas.
    • Ensure all hospital areas are clean, tidy, and well-stocked.
    • Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and restocking supplies.
  • Team Support:
    • Assist veterinary nurses and veterinarians with duties as needed.
    • Provide a welcoming environment for clients and their pets.
    • Support high-level patient care by maintaining a clean and efficient working environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

We require a minimum of Year 10 completion or equivalent. Animal Studies II or III are preferred. Basic computer knowledge is necessary. Previous experience in animal care or veterinary practice is desirable but not required.
