About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Infrastructure & Gateway Specialist to support the implementation, management, and retirement of critical infrastructure across physical, virtual, networking, and cloud environments.
This role is pivotal in ensuring secure, scalable, and resilient digital service delivery platforms. You'll act as a subject matter expert in gateway infrastructure, collaborating with architecture teams and shared services to maintain robust and secure operations.
Key Responsibilities- Design, evaluate, and implement infrastructure solutions to meet future demand
- Provide technical support across build, test, and deployment phases
- Develop design documentation, implementation plans, and support procedures
- Lead change management processes and assess configuration impacts
- Deliver strategic technical advice to stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing
- Research emerging technologies and recommend fit-for-purpose solutions
- Engage with forums and service providers to enhance delivery capability
- Manage backup, high availability, and disaster recovery systems
- Oversee patching, support packages, and gateway network kit operations
- Minimum 5 years' experience in internet gateway and/or large-scale data centre networking
- Proven expertise in F5/Blue Coat Layer 4–7 switching, load balancing, and proxy systems
- Strong background in Cisco ACI, routers, Nexus switches, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
- Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
- Proficiency in VPN, email, and DNS technologies
- Familiarity with hybrid/public cloud integration and architecture documentation
- Knowledge of ASD Information Security Manual and Essential Eight
- Initial 6 weeks onsite in Canberra
- Hybrid model thereafter (minimum 3 days onsite/week)
