Job Overview:

We are seeking an accomplished Risk Management Professional to provide expert advice on risk strategies and contribute to the development of a strong risk culture within our organization.

This highly credible role has become available to work with various business units across the Consumer/Retail Bank, providing SME risk advice and supporting the Head/Seniors of Consumer Bank.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform risk analysis and strategic advisory services to support business partners in identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Master risk profiles for designated business units and develop risk strategies at both the Business and Group levels.
  • Conduct deep dive and thematic reviews of issues, assessing inherent and residual risks, and their underlying impacts under the current regulatory landscape.
  • Collaborate with the 2nd Line Operational Risk team in projects, strategies, and embedding cost-effective solutions into Business as Usual (BAU).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business, strengthening risk culture, and providing insights on key risks, controls, metrics, and trends.
  • Document findings for management and committee reporting, actively contributing to risk forum and committee meetings.
  • Assume the Executive Manager role in absence and maintain a high-performing 2nd Line Specialist team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5+ years of Operational Risk and/or Compliance experience in Banking & Financial Services.
  • Practical risk advisory and partnering experience with the business to continuously add value.
  • Outstanding ability to verbalise/articulate operational risk issues to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of prudential and regulatory environments where a Retail Bank operates (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC etc.).
  • Ability to manage workload and drive processes, especially in a matrix working/reporting environment.
  • Desirable but not essential: Consumer banking product knowledge (Mortgages, Cards, Secured and Unsecured Lendings, Deposits etc.).
