Job Title: HDD Driller

This is an exciting opportunity to work as an HDD Driller with a leading organization.

Role Overview:

As an HDD Driller, you will play a critical role in the installation of underground conduits and fibre optic cables. You will operate HDD drilling equipment, plan and organize daily work schedules, and maintain safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate HDD drilling equipment to install underground conduits and fibre optic cables.
  • Plan and organize daily work schedules and equipment maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure safety standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Maintain and repair drilling equipment as required.
  • Provide daily progress reports to the project manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Operation of directional drills, vacuum excavation units, and excavators.
  • Setup of job sites in accordance with established safety and environmental requirements.
  • Interpreting BYDA plans and locating underground assets before works commence.
  • Completing JSEA's and pre-start forms.
  • Maintenance of site vehicles and plant to ensure they are kept clean and in safe working order.
  • Reporting day-to-day productivity and issues through to engineers and supervisors.

Requirements:

  • HR driver's license (manual preferred).
  • Experience operating Vermeer drill rigs 10x15, 20x22, 23x30, and up to 60,000lbs.
  • Experienced in using Digi Track locating systems (F5 Falcon +).
  • A good understanding of drill fluid requirements for different ground conditions.
  • Excavator, Traffic Management, First Aid (incl. CPR) and 'Identify, Locate and Protect Underground Services' tickets/qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in HDD drilling or similar drilling experience.
  • Experience with fibre optic cable installation is an advantage.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and construction white card.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various project locations.
