About the Role

Shangri-La Cairns is seeking an experienced IT Manager to oversee and manage our IT Department. As the IT Manager, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of software and hardware systems, as well as the monitoring of network performance and data security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain applications software and ensure timely upgrades.

  • Diagnose and repair LAN hardware devices, maintain bridges, gateways, modems, and routers, and monitor network cabling.

  • Perform daily backups of all data for storage on site.

  • Ensure the safety, security, and integrity of all hardware, software, and data.

  • Maintain strict password controls and ensure regular password changes.

  • Monitor system software and utilities and advise the Financial Controller of relevant issues.

  • Prepare the Information Systems Department annual budget in line with the strategic plan.

  • Maintain confidentiality and security of information and adhere to hotel policies.

  • Prepare and maintain Disaster Recovery contingency plans for emergency downtime situations.

  • Develop a Strategic plan for the Information Systems Department and systems for the next 5 years.

  • Adhere to hotel procedures relating to security and fire.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IT Manager role.
  • Degree qualified in Information Systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in reading and writing.
  • Experience with hotel computer systems.
  • Understanding of workplace practices in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Availability for after-hours paging 24/7 for IS-related problems.
