Leadership Position: Director of Ports and Maritime

We are seeking an accomplished professional to lead our ports and maritime business across Oceania, driving strategy, business development, and project excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in ports, coastal, and waterfront engineering, with extensive experience in leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Market Development
  1. Develop and execute growth strategies aligned with regional and global priorities
  2. Represent the company as the principal authority for ports in the region, providing thought leadership and insights on market trends and opportunities
  • Client Engagement & Business Development
  1. Act as the senior point of contact for key clients, serving as Project Director on complex, high-profile engagements
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector stakeholders
  • Technical & Project Delivery
  1. Guide technical direction and oversee implementation of engineering methodologies and standards
  2. Ensure excellence in technical delivery, contract compliance, and client satisfaction
  • Team & People Leadership
  1. Lead and grow the regional Ports team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance leadership
  2. Support recruitment, workforce planning, and succession strategies
  • Financial & Operational Oversight
  1. Manage the business unit's financial performance, including revenue, profitability, and operational efficiency
  2. Monitor key performance indicators and oversee delivery of commercial targets

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer (CPEng or equivalent)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 20 years' experience in ports, coastal, and waterfront engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership in the delivery of complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Proven success in business development and client relationship management
  • Experience in container terminals, general/bulk cargo terminals, naval/defence infrastructure, and/or offshore wind
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency preferred

Working Conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged periods of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally
