Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Specimen Collector to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the healthcare sector, collecting blood and coordinating specimen samples from patients while delivering exceptional customer service and quality care.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, empathy, and organisational abilities. They will possess experience in Phlebotomy or hold a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a relevant healthcare background.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting samples (blood and non-blood) with care and attention
  • Keeping meticulous records for every patient and sample
  • Delivering documentation within strict turnaround times
  • Preparing and packaging specimens for transport and testing
  • Liaising with customers, clinic staff and couriers

About Us

Our network of medical laboratories and patient collection centres operates across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia, providing pathology services to some of the country's largest and most complex hospitals, down to small Indigenous communities.

Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge in Phlebotomy or a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, or a healthcare background
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with empathy
  • Organised with strong time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously, including in a solo clinic
  • Valid Driver's license and flexibility to travel to multiple clinics
  • Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
  • Australian citizenship, permanent residency, New Zealand citizenship, or valid visa with permission to work
  • Ability to work across a range of hours
  • Vaccine-preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement; other vaccinations may be required depending on location
