Job Overview

The role of Manufacturing Process Specialist involves collaborating with production teams to enhance operational efficiency. This includes evaluating manufacturing processes, implementing lean methodologies, and driving cost savings.

  • Evaluate production activities through data analysis to identify opportunities for improvements in productivity, material flow, safety, quality, and cost.
  • Prioritize actions to be taken, establish schedules for completion, and implement necessary measures to realize savings.
  • Implement key elements of Lean, such as standardized work instructions, Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen/5S initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct time studies and audits to validate labor estimates and adjust accordingly.
  • Work with vendors to determine product specifications and evaluate products based on quality standards and specifications.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams with Engineering, Production, and Estimating to drive efficiencies and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Collaborate with design engineering in concurrent engineering efforts to ensure manufacturability.
  • Identify opportunities for improved manufacturability and coordinate implementation with design engineering and operations personnel.
  • Provide shop floor feedback on product design and manufacturability issues to Engineering and Design For Manufacturability (DFM) groups.
  • Document and track cost savings and process improvements against targets.
  • Evaluate Quality data and implement improvement activities to ensure all quality requirements are met.
  • Plan and execute facility and work cell layout modifications to optimize material and product flow.
  • Develop, design, justify, and implement production tools, equipment, and assets to maximize labor efficiency and reduce total cost.
  • Support estimating function by providing estimates of direct labor and raw material costs as required.
  • Develop and maintain cost models for various activities for use in estimating.
  • Implement lean principles throughout the organization.

The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience in manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, a BS/MS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, and proficiency in SolidWorks & AutoCAD.
