Work Environment
As a Correctional Officer, you will work in a challenging yet rewarding environment where you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of prisoners. The salary range for this position is $86,013 - $94,751 pa + super.

Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include contributing to the safe management of prisoners, maintaining accurate records, and providing support to colleagues. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate high levels of literacy, numeracy, and excellent computer skills and digital literacy. You will also be assessed against the Values of the Department of Justice, which include integrity, respect, and accountability.

Training and Development
You will receive comprehensive training and development opportunities to help you succeed in your role. This includes a 12-week training program with the Tasmania Prison Service at the Risdon site, where you will develop the skills and abilities required to become a professional and effective Correctional Officer. You will also have the opportunity to acquire a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial) which is a nationally recognised qualification.
