Family Support Specialist

This role involves working sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people to address safety and well-being concerns.

Job Responsibilities

The Family Support Specialist will work collaboratively with other agencies, engaging in complex problem-solving, and assist families in formulating goals that align with their needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing safety plans and completing risk assessments.
  • Managing cases and situations, including working with high-needs and high-risk clients and their families.
  • Providing support through home visits, and being involved in court processes, including the preparation of court documents and attending court.

Additionally, this role requires a strong commitment to keeping families together so that children thrive at home.

Key Requirements for this Role Include:

  • A degree in Social Work, Social Science and Welfare, or a related field, along with practical experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • A valid driver's licence (P1 or above).
  • A paid working with children clearance number.
