Gold Mining Operations Strategist

As a Strategic Mine Planner, you will play a critical part in the development of integrated mine planning and development strategies.

The role is ideal for a technically skilled and proactive professional looking to shape the short and medium-term future of gold mining operations.

You will work closely with production, geology, and technical services teams to ensure alignment between long-term business objectives and actionable mine plans.

This will involve developing and maintaining 3-month and 12-month mining schedules for underground operations, optimising mine designs and sequences to meet production targets and strategic objectives.

Liaising with geology to ensure alignment between grade control and mining plans, working with processing and production teams to align ore delivery with mill constraints.

Conducting trade-off studies to assess mining methods, cut-off grades, and sequencing, analysing performance data to improve forecast accuracy and planning inputs.

You will also contribute to life-of-mine (LOM) planning and support Reserve and Resource updates.

Reporting and presenting findings to senior management and site leadership is an essential aspect of the role.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in short- to medium-term planning (UG).
  • Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Surpac, Datamine or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental coordination.
  • High attention to detail and a systems-based approach to planning accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of mining regulations, safety, and environmental practices.
