Student Support Psychologist

The role involves working with schools and preschools to provide support to meet the needs of all children. This includes providing psychological interventions that can be adapted for learning and home contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • To implement a service model that supports the provision of integrated and targeted services to meet the needs of children and young people with additional needs, including developmental, cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical difficulties, and exceptional needs (including giftedness).
  • To collaborate with preschool and school staff and parents to develop evidence-based psychology interventions.
  • To participate in the development of policies and procedures to ensure best practice in the delivery of psychology services.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, specialising in Clinical Psychology, Counselling or Education.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Education or related fields are desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant role, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing psychology interventions in an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
