Electronics Leadership Opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to lead the design and development of Abi's electrical system. This is a rare moment to join a pioneering robotics project that's pushing the limits of what's possible.

The successful candidate will set the direction for sensor integration, power delivery, and embedded control, working hands-on across schematic design, PCB layout, and validation. They'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to build seamless, high-reliability systems that power Abi's ability to connect with people in deeply human ways.

About the Role
  • Architect and deliver production-ready electronics that ensure Abi's hardware is robust, reliable, and emotionally expressive.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and industrial design teams to seamlessly integrate sensors, power systems, and embedded platforms.
  • Own schematic and PCB layout, with best-in-class practices around grounding, power integrity, and DFM.
  • Conduct in-depth circuit analysis and debugging to refine Abi's performance and prepare her for real-world challenges.
  • Support transition to volume manufacturing, including QA, compliance, and supplier coordination.
  • Write embedded firmware to bring up systems and enable real-time responsiveness.
  • Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers, building a culture of excellence, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's/Master's/PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of professional electronics engineering experience, with proven expertise in both high-speed board design and robust power regulation/distribution.
  • Proficiency with Altium (or equivalent) for schematic and PCB layout, demonstrating a meticulous approach to signal integrity, grounding, and manufacturability.
  • Comprehensive hands-on experience in circuit analysis, debugging, and validation, using oscilloscopes, power supplies, and simulation tools to deliver designs that meet the highest performance and reliability standards.
  • Familiarity with embedded programming, enabling efficient collaboration across firmware development, FPGA design, and microcontroller integration.
  • In-depth understanding of short-circuit protection, switching power supplies, and innovative power management methods for battery-driven and high-current systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical CAD, illustrating the ability to collaborate effectively with mechanical and industrial designers on seamless system integration.
  • Proven track record of supporting manufacturing and supply chain processes, overseeing transition to volume production, driving design-for-manufacturability, and upholding compliance standards.
  • A passion for mentoring junior engineers, championing rigorous design reviews, and fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.
Why Join Us
  • You'll be one of the early builders behind a product the world has never seen before.
  • You'll work on a deeply cross-functional team that blends robotics, AI, and design into one magical product.
  • You'll own real hardware end-to-end, not just one slice of a larger machine.
  • You'll have the autonomy to move fast, the backing of top-tier investors, and the opportunity to do the best work of your career.
