Laboratory Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our dynamic team at Healius. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing manual and automated diagnostic testing, conducting routine procedures from specimen reception to result execution for pathological diagnosis, and maintaining all equipment in line with protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
- Conducting routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
- Assisting with Stock Control
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge
- Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
- Liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals as necessary
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or AIMS approved equivalent
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise, and skills in Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Bank, and Stat Microbiology
- Sound knowledge of QC, QAP, and troubleshooting
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation/certification
- Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and infrequent supervision
- Outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
