We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Compliance Officer to join our team at Eden Ritchie Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective administration of state and local electoral laws, while also contributing to compliance and enforcement activities.
Key Responsibilities- Regulatory Expertise: Promote the Electoral Commission of Queensland's role as a regulator for the funding and disclosure legislative framework, through compliance and proportional enforcement activities, the Electronic Disclosure System, and stakeholder outreach.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop educational material and present information sessions to stakeholders, including elected representatives, political parties, donors, and other key interested parties.
- Compliance Support: Assist compliance officers in conducting investigations and other compliance activities.
- Advice and Guidance: Provide high-level advice to the Senior Management Team and respond to media and other inquiries relating to election funding, financial disclosure, party registration, and other matters.
- Complaint Handling: Assess and respond to complaints regarding compliance matters from electoral participants.
- System Development: Contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of electronic support systems and business processes as they relate to funding and disclosure, ensuring high standards of user experience and administrative efficiencies.
- Team Collaboration: Take a team approach to your work, not only in the Funding and Disclosure team, but across all areas of the ECQ's operations.
- Leadership and Management: Assist the Manager in the management and coordination of the division, including supervision of subordinate staff using contemporary leadership skills.
- Project Delivery: Lead and support various projects across the ECQ for the delivery of fair and transparent elections.
- Qualifications: Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, a Certificate IV in Government Investigations or equivalent, experience in a regulatory environment, performing investigations and taking enforcement action, is highly desirable.

- COVID-19 Vaccination: It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to disclose their COVID-19 vaccination status.
- Irregular Hours: All positions within the ECQ may be expected on occasion to work irregular hours to meet the ECQ's commitments, especially during election periods.
- Political Neutrality: It is a requirement of the position, and applicants must be willing to certify, that they have not engaged in any recent political activity and will not engage, during the course of their employment, in any political activity likely to raise a perception of bias.
