Lead Respiratory Scientist

About the Role
The Tasmania Government is the largest employer in the region, with a commitment to delivering essential services to the community.
We are in search of a committed Senior Respiratory Scientist to enhance our operations at the North West Regional Hospital. This facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art lung function laboratory, conducting comprehensive lung function assessments for both adult and pediatric patients.
Under the guidance of the staff specialist in respiratory medicine, this position is well-suited for candidates with a robust background in respiratory function units or similar environments. Experience with respiratory function assessments and equipment, including arterial blood gas analysis and venepuncture, is essential. Candidates should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capability to work autonomously with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Clinical Directors in the strategic planning and management of the Lung Function Laboratory, ensuring the provision of an accredited service that meets departmental requirements and national standards.
- Deliver safe, high-quality, and compassionate patient care through effective laboratory operations, staff training, execution of routine and complex tests, and involvement in educational and research initiatives.
Position Details
This is a fixed-term part-time position, requiring 38 hours of work per fortnight. Salary is competitive, ranging from $106,966 to $123,013 pro rata, per annum, with an additional 11.5% superannuation contribution.
Employees will have access to a salary package that includes various benefits, such as living expenses and meal entertainment allowances, subject to eligibility.
Furthermore, the following allowances may be available based on the salaried incremental point:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.
Essential Criteria
- Eligibility for membership in the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
