Job Title: Optical Engineering Expert

We are seeking an experienced Optical Engineer to join our team in Mulgrave. This role is critical to sustaining and advancing world-leading spectroscopic instrumentation and manufacturing capabilities.

You will work closely with production teams and lead optics insourcing initiatives, supporting the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of optical systems and test infrastructure.

  • Support production operations by maintaining and improving optical systems.
  • Lead optics insourcing projects to enhance local manufacturing capabilities.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to recover and recalibrate test equipment during downtime.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electronic, software, and firmware engineers to integrate optical solutions.
  • Contribute to NPI projects including optics manufacturing processes, fixture design and prototyping.
  • Maintain and develop manufacturing databases for optical performance and test data.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Physics, Optics, or Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in optical engineering, preferably in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of spectroscopic techniques and applications.
  • Experience with optical metrology, optomechanics, and optical design tools (e.g., raytracing, simulation, CAD).
  • Familiarity with laser physics, light scattering, polarization, and detection schemes.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, ANSYS, COMSOL).
