Job Title:

">Design Engineer

The role of a Software and Hardware Design Engineer is to scope, document, design, test, and implement software and hardware for applications or for embedding into electronic devices.

  • Develop scoping documents for new projects by defining project goals and objectives.
  • Design project plans that outline key milestones, timelines, and resource allocation for new projects.
  • Adhere to the Project Development Lifecycle for all projects ensuring quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Prepare test documentation for testing software and hardware including test cases, test scripts, and test data.
  • Conduct research on new technologies to incorporate into new designs and stay up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Provide regular progress reports to stakeholders, including the Engineering Team and Senior Leadership.
  • Design Device-In-The-Loop test equipment to simulate real-world scenarios and ensure product reliability.
Responsibilities:
  • Authorize design releases to production ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Update Component Libraries with new parts, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all projects.
  • Liaise with component suppliers to evaluate or source new components, negotiating prices and delivery terms.
  • Participate in peer-design reviews of hardware and software, providing constructive feedback and recommendations.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Relevant engineering and manufacturing experience, preferably in Embedded Software and Hardware Development.
  • Proficiency in Real-Time Programming languages such as C, C++, or Java.
  • Experience in Network Programming (TCP/IP) is highly desirable but not essential.
