Research Fellow

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Fellow to join our Centre for Future Materials at the University of Southern Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research studies in aerated and 3D printed low-carbon emission concrete for bushfire resilient infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Develop innovative, lightweight, and fire-resistant masonry blocks and facades for enhancing bushfire resiliency of housing and buildings using aerated concrete and concrete 3D printing technologies.
- Actively build research collaborations and partnerships within and across civil infrastructure, under the mentorship of senior academic employees.
- Contribute to the growth of the Centre's postgraduate research program in the testing and modelling of resilient infrastructure.
- An Honours degree or higher qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering with a specialisation in concrete technology.
- Relevant professional experience and research expertise in lightweight concrete technology, in particular for the application of extrusion and 3D printing technologies as well as material testing, fire testing and modelling.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.
The Centre for Future Materials at the University of Southern Queensland delivers world-class research in the design and development of innovative materials for diverse engineering applications. Our true strength is in industrial engagement and development, to develop personnel, IP, new products, and open new sectors through collaborative research programs which utilise industry funding leveraged against state and national funding mechanisms to de-risk the cost of research and deliver maximum impact for industry, the funding body, and the University.
What We Offer- A total remuneration range of $91,140 to $122,268 pa, including salary range of $77,008 to $103,311 pa, employer super contributions of 17% and annual leave loading.
- A full-time fixed-term appointment for 2 years (37.5 hrs/week).
