Position Overview: Associate Lecturer in Seafaring

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in teaching and administrative tasks specifically related to Maritime Operations and Coastal Seafaring.
  • Conduct tutorials, theory lessons, and practical training sessions, with a focus on AQF levels 1 to 5 and some undergraduate degree delivery.
  • Ensure training and assessment align with university protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in administrative duties within the Centre for Seafaring and Maritime Operations and engage in scholarly activities relevant to the maritime field.
  • Contribute to teaching commitments across multiple campuses and potentially in interstate and international locations.

What You Will Contribute:

  • Play a significant role in achieving the University’s strategic goals and operational responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and deliver lectures, tutorials, practical classes, workshops, and field excursions in both on-campus and online settings.
  • Support research and scholarship initiatives within the Centre for Seafaring and Maritime Operations.
  • Foster productive relationships within the University and with external stakeholders in the maritime industry.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Possession of an Australian-issued Certificate of Competency (CoC) for Master less than 24m near coastal, or a relevant/higher STCW CoC, along with relevant industry experience.
  • An Australian-issued CoC Marine Engine Driver Grade 3 near coastal or higher, with applicable seagoing experience.
  • Proven ability to prepare and deliver training using innovative methods and assess student performance effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in vocational training and assessment, preferably holding a current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Compensation:

This role is classified at Academic Level A, offering a total remuneration package of up to $121,737, which includes a base salary ranging from $80,462 to $104,049, plus 17% superannuation.
