Head of Retail Merchandising Job Overview

This is a key senior leadership role responsible for leading the national retail merchandising strategy across multiple locations, aligning with commercial goals and store growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of in-store presentation strategies to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee layout development and execution for new store builds, relocations, and refurbishments.
  • Manage and maintain a high-performing team across head office, NSW, and other states.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Store Operations, Buying, Marketing, and Fit-Out/Property teams.
  • Establish and uphold national VM standards and store presentation guidelines.
  • Monitor and optimize store performance through a merchandising lens using sales and behavioral data.
What You Bring:
  • Proven experience in a senior national retail merchandising role (e.g., Head of Merchandising, National VM Manager).
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale merchandising functions across multi-site retail environments.
  • Strong capability in store layout planning, retail design, space management, and customer experience optimization.
  • Commercial acumen with a deep understanding of how visual strategy impacts conversion, traffic flow, and profitability.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
