Student Wellbeing Specialist

Job Description

The role of school counsellor is a vital component of the department's School Counselling Service. As a skilled practitioner, you will work closely with teachers and other stakeholders to enhance the learning and wellbeing outcomes for students.

Clients will be children and young people, from diverse backgrounds and needs. Your expertise in evidence-based interventions will help them navigate complex issues and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide counselling services to students, including individual and group sessions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement strategies that support student wellbeing.
  • Conduct psychological assessments and produce reports that inform teaching practices and student care plans.
Requirements:
  • Registration as a psychologist or eligibility for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Additional Information:

This is a permanent full-time position, commencing on 27 January 2026. The successful candidate will be based at Jerrys Plains Public School and provided with opportunities to work across the lifespan with both primary and high school-aged students.

Applicants must be registered or provisionally registered psychologists or eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. They should also be willing to travel between worksites and meet the requirements outlined in the attached document.
