Key Responsibilities
  • Owning and executing industrial automation projects with Engineers, specialists, and Technicians from different groups.
  • Developing and upgrading data acquisition and control systems to ensure reliable access to space.
  • Providing technical support and guidance for controls technicians and other non-controls engineering groups.
  • Leading technicians and/or contractors efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Commissioning new hardware to integrate into existing production systems.

This position requires hands-on execution of industrial automation projects, developing and upgrading data acquisition and control systems, providing technical support and guidance, leading technicians and/or contractors, and commissioning new hardware. The successful candidate will own and execute industrial automation projects, develop and upgrade data acquisition and control systems, provide technical support and guidance, lead technicians and/or contractors, and commission new hardware.

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalency certificate is required; 2+ years of experience in a controls technician or specialist role is also necessary.
  • A strong work ethic and drive to succeed as part of a high-functioning team are essential.
  • The ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging environment is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement and troubleshoot data acquisition and control hardware is highly valued.
  • Fundamental understanding of engineering principles behind electronic equipment, instrumentation, and commonly used industrial equipment is also required.
Preferred Skills
  • Occupational trade school qualification in an instrumentation or electrical-based field is highly valued.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Standard for Electrical Safety), NFPA 79 & UL508A codes is also necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal are essential.
  • Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight is highly valued.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will be required to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, flashing lights, heat, cold, rain, and noise. Occasional travel to other SpaceX or 3rd party facilities may also be necessary, up to 25%. Availability to work overtime and weekends when needed based on site operational needs is also required.
