Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor or Associate Director to join our team at Design and Build Recruitment. As a key member of our construction advisory firm, you will play a crucial role in the successful execution of our construction projects, with a particular focus on building and/or infrastructure, including rail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and feasibility studies for construction projects, considering building and/or infrastructure (rail) requirements.
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs, ensuring accurate measurement of materials, labor, and equipment.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, tracking costs, and providing regular reports on financial performance.
- Prepare and evaluate tender documents, including bills of quantities and contract documentation.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Conduct thorough cost analysis, identifying areas for cost reduction and value engineering.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveyors, promoting their professional development.
- Collaborate closely with project teams to resolve any cost-related issues and ensure smooth project delivery.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry, with a focus on infrastructure (rail) projects.
- In-depth knowledge of quantity surveying practices, construction methodologies, and cost control principles.
- Strong experience in preparing cost estimates, quantity take-offs, and tender documentation.
- Proficient in using industry-standard software such as CostX, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Professional certifications, such as MRICS or equivalent, are highly desirable.
