Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled medical professional to fill the position of Locum Consultant in Gastroenterology for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in on-call rotas and provide general responsibilities as required.
  • Lead specialist clinics, outpatient sessions, including operating procedures relevant to the specialty.
  • Develop and implement teaching programs for junior staff and undergraduate students.
  • Collaborate with the gastroenterology team to ensure effective GI triage, weekend duties, and ward cover.
  • Engage in clinical governance and participate in sub-specialty interest areas, including luminal IBD and advanced endoscopy techniques.
Contract Details:
  • The post consists of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), including 2 Specialist Practice Allowances (SPAs).
  • Gastroenterologists will spend 5 weeks caring for medical gastroenterology patients on a designated GI ward, supported by junior doctors and specialists.
  • Sessional commitments may be adjusted to maintain an average of 10 PAs per week over a rolling rota period.
