About the FP&A Team

We are a high-performing team within Canva's Finance organization, responsible for driving superior outcomes for the company. Our team is currently in a scale-up phase, and we're looking for a talented individual to join us as a Strategic Finance Analyst, Topline Forecasting.

About the Role

In this unique role, you'll divide your time between day-to-day operations work and strategic project work. One part of your role will be dedicated to day-to-day operations, including ownership of topline forecast models, day-to-day updates and analysis of revenue metrics, drivers, and dashboards. You'll support the creation of robust processes for Topline forecasting, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

The other part of your role will be dedicated to strategic project work, supporting the evolving existing and building new operating models as required to assist with evaluating strategic alternatives, new initiatives, and tracking group operational metrics. This requires you to lean on your strategic thinking and modelling experience to understand the drivers of the business and learn to provide advice on the best modelling approach to take.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building operational modelling and strategic thinking to solve unique and complex business problems.
  • Working closely with Finance Business Partners and the revenue-generating groups to understand performance metrics, underlying drivers, ongoing strategic initiatives, and optimise scenario and operational models.
  • Providing forecasts that feed into profitability analysis, supporting the broader FP&A team with insights and commentary on operational metrics.
  • Identifying potential risks to future growth and revenue early, through monitoring of metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Providing monthly updates for actuals, revising forecasts based on the latest business insights and metrics, including collaborating across the business to ensure our forecast accurately reflects business reality.
  • Learning the nuances of market and industry trends, applying insights to revenue forecasting and SaaS metrics.
  • Collaborating with the broader FP&A and Finance team to elevate financial excellence across Canva.
What You'll Need
  • Experience in operational modelling and topline forecasting, preferably within the SaaS or tech industry.
  • A hunger for continuous learning, embracing new challenges with high adaptability, and a drive to learn and understand various operational modelling techniques.
  • Experience in strategic corporate finance, private equity/venture capital, investment banking, management consulting, or similar environments.
  • Proficiency in Excel and a keen interest in expanding your knowledge of data structures and building intricate models that provide invaluable insights into business dynamics.
  • A strategic thinker with a commercial acumen and experience analysing multiple dimensions of what drives a business equation.
  • Experience working in cross-functional collaboration, synthesising insights to drive impactful financial and operational forecasts.
  • A knack for data detective work, diving deep into data, seamlessly joining disparate sources to uncover root causes and business drivers.
  • Experience with PowerQuery, PowerBi, DAX, and SQL is a plus, but not essential.
What's in it for You?

Achieving our crazy big goals motivates us to work hard - and we do - but you'll experience lots of moments of magic, connectivity, and fun woven throughout life at Canva, too. We also offer a range of benefits to set you up for every success in and outside of work.

  • Equity packages - we want our success to be yours too.
  • Inclusive parental leave policy that supports all parents & carers.
  • An annual Vibe & Thrive allowance to support your wellbeing, social connection, office setup & more.
  • Flexible leave options that empower you to be a force for good, take time to recharge, and support you personally.
  • In-house crafted on-demand library of learning programs such as AI/ML School, Canva Product Skills, Internal Coaching, and much more.
