Job Overview

The Lab Technician role encompasses a variety of clinical laboratory procedures aimed at supporting quality patient care, including specimen collection, processing, and testing.

  • Responsibilities include preparing, cleaning and sterilizing equipment, instruments, and work areas to collect patient samples.
  • Designated laboratory testing will be conducted.
  • Specimen collection via venipuncture, arterial, and capillary punctures on patients will be performed.
  • Specimens will be identified and labeled correctly.
  • Patient education on urine collection procedures will be provided.
  • Bleeding time tests and urine dipstick tests will be performed.
  • Sweat chloride collection procedure or Drug of Abuse urine collection procedure may also be performed.
  • Laboratory data will be entered into the computer system.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of experience in phlebotomy is required.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is necessary.
  • Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assisting is preferred.
  • BLS Certification is mandatory.
