Job Title: Fabrication & Piping Trade Manager

The role of Fabrication and Piping Trade Manager is a key position within our organisation, responsible for leading a high-performing team to deliver submarine maintenance programs. The successful candidate will oversee workforce planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a technically complex and safety-critical environment.

About the Role

Lead and manage the Fabrication team to support submarine maintenance projects.

Oversee recruitment, training, and development of qualified trades personnel.

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and technical standards across all fabrication activities.

Manage departmental performance, succession planning, and staff appraisals.

Monitor and control labour resources, including leave, overtime, and shift planning.

Develop and maintain systems and documentation to support operational efficiency.

Refine facility, equipment, and tooling requirements to meet project demands.

About You

Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Management, or equivalent experience.

Proven leadership in a shipbuilding, submarine, or heavy engineering environment.

Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, ideally within the Collins Class context.

Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and complex projects.

Skilled in workforce planning, recruitment, and competency development.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
