About the Role

As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the development of research projects within the Clinical and Health Sciences Academic Unit. Your primary focus will be on academic and industry-focused research in the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry group.

We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in proteomics and mass spectrometry to join our team. The successful candidate will have expertise in the analysis of complex proteomes via tryptic peptides by MALDI-TOF-MS and LC-ESI- MS/MS mass spectrometry as well as in the analysis of produced data.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor and Postgraduate qualification in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry, and have demonstrated laboratory experience in separation sciences, protein biochemistry, metabolomics, proteomics or environmental analysis with an emphasis on instrumental analysis, particularly in mass spectrometry.

Core Responsibilities
  • Engage with researchers and industry partners to contribute to new research directions and/or outcomes
  • Develop and implement new methodologies for the analysis of complex proteomes
  • Expand on the MALDI-TOF MS expertise to ensure the University remains cutting-edge in the field of Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI)
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Experience with analysis and software for controlling analytical instruments, particularly LC-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, QTOF MS, QQQ MS, and MALDI TOF MS instrumentation
  • Familiarity with advanced statistical analysis techniques for large datasets
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
