Job Title

Research Scientist - Civil Engineering

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic researcher who has a strong research interest in hydrology and water resources with demonstrated expertise in data science and modelling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing new approaches to water resources modelling
  • Application of Bayesian inference methods to environmental problems
  • Data-driven machine learning applications
  • Analysis and modelling with remote sensing data
  • Uncertainty quantification for environmental applications

The successful candidate will contribute significantly to one or more research areas and assist in supervising PhD and MRes research students.

In our Faculty of Engineering, you'll join a team of enthusiastic academics who deliver high-quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Requirements
  • A PhD awarded or submitted (or near completion), in civil and/or environmental engineering or a closely related field in data science, applied statistics, or geoscience
  • Publishing research in scientific literature
  • Sustaining the Professor's research program
  • Supporting postgraduate student supervision
  • Independent and collaborative working skills
  • Presenting research at seminars and meetings
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Advanced computing skills including programming in R
