Our Road & Vehicle Safety Division aims to achieve this goal through policy direction, targeted programs, legislation, and regulation.

Job Summary

We are seeking highly skilled APS5 Compliance, Intelligence, and Investigation Officers to join our Vehicle Safety Operations Branch. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Road Vehicle Standards Act 2018 and the Road Vehicle Standards Rules 2019.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk assessing, prioritizing, and processing reports of alleged non-compliance with RVS legislation
  • Encouraging voluntary compliance to resolve minor non-compliance issues and identifying appropriate escalation pathways
  • Proactively engaging with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Providing general support and assistance to the broader Compliance and Enforcement Section
  • Preparing proportionate administrative responses for low, medium, and high-risk non-compliance matters
Requirements
  • Strong commitment to integrity and accountability
  • Well-developed judgment and discretion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage assigned workload to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to apply a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a regulatory environment and/or regulatory compliance and enforcement
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of government administrative frameworks and decision-making processes
  • Formal qualifications or experience in audit, law, regulation, risk management, compliance, investigation, engineering, or an aligned discipline
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering, automotive technology, or the automotive industry
  • Familiarity with RVS legislation
