We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Family Support Worker to join our team at Centacare. Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Team Leader, Social Worker, and support staff to implement the Young Family Support Program service model.
- Assist clients in building capacity, strengthening family relationships, and connecting with community resources.
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
- Provide support for identified issues, including mental health, drug and alcohol use.
- Ensure tenancy requirements are met, including maintaining and reviewing rent records.
- Perform daily cleaning and household management tasks as outlined in the site's task sheet and as directed by the Team Leader and Senior Manager.
You are a dedicated and empathetic individual with a passion for supporting young families. You have experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly young pregnant and parenting women, and understand the unique challenges they face. You possess excellent communication skills, which enable you to build trust and offer emotional and practical support.
You are flexible and willing to work evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts, with the ability to manage a 24/7 rotating roster across multiple sites. Your adaptability ensures you can respond to short-notice changes, providing continuous support to the Young Family Support program.
Requirements- Hold a Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention, Youth Work, or a similar qualification.
- Apply knowledge of child development and child-parent attachment to support young families.
- Understand and address the impact of homelessness on young women and their children, providing targeted support.
- Utilise your understanding of childhood trauma, attachment theory, and adolescent development to offer trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication.
- Be prepared to undertake a psychological assessment, if required (essential for working at Louise Place).
