We are seeking a skilled professional to fill the role of Manager, Engineering and Assets (Chief Engineer). This key leadership position will oversee the delivery of high-quality infrastructure and asset management outcomes for the community.

About The Position
  • This is a senior leadership role responsible for the design, delivery, and management of Council's infrastructure assets including roads, footpaths, kerb and gutter, stormwater networks, and marine structures.
  • The position leads strategic asset management planning, oversees the Capital Works program, and ensures the effective application of engineering excellence in project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with the Director Infrastructure & Environmental Sustainability to drive the success of the Engineering Services team in delivering infrastructure projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  2. Act as the asset owner for multiple asset classes, ensuring compliance with relevant asset management policies, strategies, and plans.
  3. Develop and implement Asset Management Systems and Maintenance Management Systems to optimize resource allocation and efficiency.
  4. Provide authoritative technical advice to stakeholders, the community, and other departments within Council on complex civil infrastructure designs.
  5. Manage complex civil infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including procurement, contract administration, and budget control.
  6. Cultivate strong relationships with residents, government agencies, contractors, and elected officials through high-level consultation and liaison.
  7. Promote innovation and sustainability in infrastructure planning and delivery to achieve optimal outcomes.
Essential Criteria
  • Degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia (mandatory).
  • Proven experience in civil and building design, asset management, and delivery of civil works programs.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing professional engineering teams.
  • Extensive project management experience with proven budgetary and contractual oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.
