Job Description

This is an exceptional opportunity for a medical professional to specialise in the Bone Marrow Transplant, Leukaemia, and Lymphoma Stream and/or the Neuro-Oncology and Solid Tumour Stream.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical services, participating in all clinical duties, and upholding the values of the Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service.
  • They will participate in an active teaching program, including Oncology Advanced Trainee teaching, and research activities leading to conference presentations and publications.
Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Undertaking regular assessment and performance review, actively participating in unit and facility-based educational programs and meeting mandatory training requirements
  • Participating in clinical Outreach services to contribute to Paediatric Oncology services throughout Queensland, with consultant supervision.
  • Providing inpatient, outpatient and consultative clinical services in malignant haematology, bone marrow transplant, neuro-oncology and solid tumour oncology.
  • Working as part of the Oncology on-call and after-hours rosters, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Supervising, providing leadership and performance management of Junior Medical staff.
  • Preparing and presenting at Paediatric Oncology meetings.
  • Ensuring timely summary documentation through all phases of patient care, by completing patient progress notes, correspondence and reports including discharge planning and discharge summaries.
  • Actively participating in the training and teaching of Junior Medical Staff, Medical Students and other members of the multidisciplinary team, including in departmental teaching programs.
