The Early Childhood Coordinator will provide assistance to families who have concerns about their child's development by utilizing their knowledge of developmental milestones, conducting observations and utilizing information from screening tools and/or assessments.
The role involves identifying and explaining the most suitable pathway of supports, whether this be access to early supports or support with applying for the NDIS. The Coordinator will also assist families to connect with local mainstream and community services such as community or child health services, playgroups, childcare, parent support groups, education options and recreation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing support to families to understand their child's developmental delays or disabilities.
- Identifying and explaining the most suitable pathway of supports.
- Assisting families to connect with local mainstream and community services.
- Working with families to identify their goals and priorities for their child.
- Supporting families with implementing their child's NDIS plan and finding service providers that meet the needs of the child and family.
The successful candidate will possess a minimum Diploma tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Allied Health or other relevant professional field.
They will also have experience providing support to families using a family-focused and strengths-based approach, and demonstrated experience supporting and implementing evidence-based early childhood intervention strategies with families using a capacity-building approach.
Additionally, the candidate should have strong communication & interpersonal skills, moderate report writing and IT skills, including database management, and current Driver's Licence - P1 minimum.
Valid Working with Children's Check Clearance and Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC) are mandatory.
