Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to join our team at Qantas. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to lead the architecture, delivery, and development of software systems that power our business unit.
About the Role
This hands-on leadership role requires a strong technical background in both front-end and back-end technologies, with experience in guiding and mentoring technical teams to deliver high-quality software. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing software solutions, testing, agile software delivery, leadership, collaboration, and training.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Design and Implementation: Develop software solutions that meet business requirements and ensure high-quality delivery.
- Testing: Conduct acceptance, functional, integration, and unit testing to ensure software reliability and performance.
- Agile Software Delivery: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver software solutions using agile methodologies.
- Leadership: Mentor and guide technical teams to achieve business objectives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure software solutions meet those needs.
- Implementation of Secure Code Practice: Ensure secure coding practices are followed throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Training: Provide training and coaching to technical teams on software development best practices.
Requirements
- Strong Knowledge of Agile and Lean Software Development Practices: Have a solid understanding of agile and lean software development methodologies.
- Experience in Embedding Best Practices in Software Development: Have experience in embedding best practices in software development within a team.
- Ability to Collaborate and Contribute to the Organisation's Engineering Culture: Be able to collaborate and contribute to the organisation's engineering culture.
- Extensive Experience with Version Control Tools: Have extensive experience with version control tools like Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Experience Researching and Troubleshooting Bugs and Performance Bottlenecks: Have experience researching and troubleshooting bugs and performance bottlenecks in a production environment.
- Strong End-to-End Technical Understanding: Have a strong end-to-end technical understanding of how applications run and operate within an enterprise environment.
- In-Depth Expertise in Front-End and Back-End Technologies: Have in-depth expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies, including JavaScript, React JS, SSR, Micro Front Ends, HTML, CSS, Java, SpringBoot, NodeJS, API, and REST.
- Knowledge and Experience of Cloud Platforms: Have knowledge and experience of cloud platforms such as AWS - EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, and Cloud watch.
- Containerisation Technology Concepts: Have knowledge of containerisation technology concepts, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good Knowledge of Important Software Design Considerations: Have good knowledge of important software design considerations, including security, performance, and data privacy.
- Enthusiasm for Learning and Driving Adoption of the Latest Technology: Have enthusiasm for learning and driving adoption of the latest technology.
- Excellent Problem-Solving Skills: Possess excellent problem-solving skills.
- Great Communication Skills: Have great communication skills (written and verbal) that enable successful collaboration.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary range of AUD 140,000 - 170,000 per annum, depending on experience.
