Security Compliance Officer

About the RoleYou will be part of the Security Policy, Training and Culture section, responsible for coordinating security compliance activities and applying policies and procedures to protect the department from security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Coordinate and triage compliance assessments and enquiries related to workforce security arrangements and outcomes.
- Manage a section mailbox and coordinate advice determinations and escalations.
- Undertake administrative duties to support security policies and procedures, including reporting, records management, and compliance activities.
- Contribute to achieving Section and Branch objectives.
- Support the Branch to deliver timely and consistent responses on policy compliance and security matters.
- Contribute to reporting for DSD leadership on issues impacting the Section or Branch.
- Develop an understanding of legislation, policy, and regulations supporting recommendations on security issues/policy.
- Nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Other related duties as tasked or required.
- Initiative and strategic thinking to apply sound judgment in decision-making while working with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with experience drafting correspondence and compliance reports.
- Proven ability to build and manage enduring relationships with key stakeholders to achieve operational and policy outcomes.
- The ability to harness and analyze information from various sources to support the dissemination of security advice and outcomes.
- The highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism, and who champions APS and Departmental values.
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced office environment.
- Knowledge of the Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework desirable.
- Experience with government records management and filing systems desirable.
- Must be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role.
- This is a security-designated position, and specified Personnel will be required to hold a current Australian Government Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance before commencement.
- $57.72 per hour + Super
- Contract up to October 2025
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
- Located in Canberra
