Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals with psychosocial disabilities.

The Role:

  • You will interview clients to assess their needs and develop personalized plans to achieve their goals.
  • You will plan and implement educational and developmental opportunities, as well as other support programs, to empower clients to reach their full potential.
  • You will take observations and provide detailed reports on client progress.
  • You will make referrals to external agencies that provide additional assistance to clients.

Key Requirements:

  • You must have strong knowledge of NDIS guidelines, community services, and health sectors.
  • You must understand the complexities of mental health illnesses and psychosocial disabilities.
  • You must have experience working with clients who exhibit challenging behaviors.
  • You must possess excellent skills in diversity management and mental health services.
  • You must be able to provide respectful support for clients' personal care and domestic duties.
  • You must be physically capable of performing manual handling tasks.

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Diploma in Community Services or Mental Health is essential.
  • Certificates in Medication Management and Infection Control are also required.
  • A current Driver's License and willingness to use your own vehicle (if required) with comprehensive insurance and a roadworthy certificate are necessary.
  • A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing is required.
  • An NDIS Support Worker Orientation Module Certificate, or willingness to complete it prior to commencing, is also required.
  • A confirmation record of COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1 & 2) and booster is necessary.
