Job Title: Officer Watchhouse Assistant

The role of the Assistant Watchhouse Officer plays a significant part in overseeing, monitoring and managing persons in custody and visitors to the watch house. This position entails working on 24-hour rotational shifts, encompassing afternoon, night, weekend shifts as well as public holidays which attract shift penalties supplementary to the base wage.

">Key Responsibilities
  • Perform watch house functions relevant to the administration, supervision and monitoring of persons in custody and visitors to the watch house.
  • Prepare and maintain prisoner files and records.
  • Operate and monitor electronic surveillance and movement control systems according to established procedures.
  • Maintain watch house records in accordance with Queensland Police Service policy and procedure.
  • Assist in processing persons received into custody in line with Queensland Police Service policy and procedures.
  • Supervise and provide for the welfare, comfort and security of prisoners.
  • Prepare and maintain records of prisoner's health requirements; monitor medical needs of prisoners and arrange an appropriate level of medical assistance as needed.
  • Assist senior staff with issues impacting operational management of the watch house.

This role necessitates wearing of Assistant Watchhouse Officer uniform and adherence to Queensland Police Service code of dress and appearance. A valid Open C Class Driver's Licence is mandatory.

Candidates must be willing to work a shift work rotational roster, i.e. 24-hour, 7 day roster.
